Part of our mission statement refers to providing financial support to our library. We do this through a variety of means. Fundraising is one of them. Some of our fundraising activities have become regular events. We encourage you to participate in any or all! Watch our website for our scheduled events.
Each September, we host an old-fashioned radio auction. It is simulcast on KATO and Kat Kountry Radio. During this fast-paced and fun auction, bidders can call in or text their offers while Reed Richins and David Bell direct the action. It features a variety of donated items from local businesses, organizations, and individuals. A catalog will feature items from furniture to services to restaurant gift cards. There is something for everyone! How about a flight over Graham County with Dr. Harrison?
Through a partnership with Jerry’s Foundation, we host an annual Fall Foodie Fest in October.
For those of you who are carrying a Dine Out certificate, which is available at the library and this website, we will receive 25% of the value of all receipts garnered through the entire business day. Please stop by Jerry’s Restaurant on Dine Out Day. Purchase a soda, dessert or entire meal. It all counts! Eat in or take out!
We enjoy a partnership with John and Jenny Howard to sponsor our annual candy drive at Ginaveve’s Marketplace on Main Street, Safford. The inventory will be available for sale the weekend prior to Thanksgiving through December. Don’t be a last-minute shopper. We always run out before Christmas. Chocolate rules!
Our popular Holiday Bake and Treat Sale is held in December to coincide with the Library’s holiday festivities and visit from Santa. We feature the best from local bakers. If you would like to donate baked goods, simply bring them to the library the day prior to the event. The sale runs from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. We feature a wide variety of delicious items. Everything is priced to sell. Yum!
In April, we’ll be hosting our used jewelry sale in the Friends Corner. Stop by to take advantage of the great deals. We feature bracelets, necklaces, earrings, etc. at ridiculously low prices from Monday through Thursday, 10:00 a.m. – noon and 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. And, feel free to bring donations to the library anytime throughout the year. Your toss-out is someone’s treasure.
Our ever-popular Dessert of the Month fundraiser features a different baked item each month, delivered to your front door for a year. The Friends have wrangled 12 talented bakers to tend to your sweet tooth. Join the bidding war at the September Radio Auction to win this delicious prize.
The Friends host a raffle once a year which features a framed, signed and numbered Hal Empie lithograph. Hal was a resident of Safford and Duncan. Aside from his career in pharmacy, he found time to create beautiful works of art, mostly of southwestern genre. We are appreciative of Hal’s daughter, Ann Empie Groves of the Empie Studio for her kind donation to the Friends.
The Friends recognize we have many talented photographers in our county. As a result, we have partnered with some (Monika Ragland, Talana Hooper, Ellen Schmidt, Nancy Schauman, Cathy Konopnicki, etc.) to create note cards featuring their work. Stop by Ginaveve's, 5th Avenue Florist and the Graham County Chamber of Commerce to view and purchase The Beauty of Graham County. (Photo by Monika Ragland)
We love to capture loose change because it turns into books and media for the library. Keep your eyes open for coin boxes at Mt. Graham Market and JoBi's Convenience store throughout the spring.
